The gateway to the Garden Route and the game reserves and beaches of the Eastern Cape.
Port Elizabeth
Port Elizabeth or PE is known as “The Friendly City” or “The Windy City” – on the Indian Ocean. Port Elizabeth was established to accommodate British settlers. A government-sponsored program bought what is now the city area to create a buffer between the warring Cape Dutch settlers and the Xhosa. The small port has grown massively since then and is now the gateway to the Garden Route, as well as the game reserves and beaches of the Eastern Cape.
