Nairobi
Nairobi is the bustling economic heart of Kenya. The capital is the seat of the Kenyan government, international companies and organizations, banks and conference centers as well as numerous hotels, restaurants and bars. At the same time, Nairobi is a green metropolis and the perfect starting point for safaris in the Kenyan highlands. Only a few kilometers from the city center, the Nairobi National Park already offers real safari experiences in front of the big city skyline!
Holidaymakers who want to visit sights in Nairobi have a large selection of interesting excursion options. The capital of the popular African holiday destination Kenya offers its visitors numerous attractions, both scenic and cultural. Sights in the city center include the architecturally elaborate parliament building and the town hall. The National Library and the National Theater are also worth a visit. The traditional African souvenirs can be bought by holidaymakers in the Maasai market and in the Sarit Center, the largest shopping center in Kenya.
Kenya is not only known for its scenic diversity, but also for the many animals that live here. On a safari through the Nairobi National Park, vacationers can observe them in their natural habitat. The park has existed since 1946 and is only 7 km from the center of the city. Various bird and mammal species live here on an area of almost 120 square kilometers. During a jeep ride through the park, visitors can take photos of giraffes, rhinos, gazelles, zebras, lions and antelopes, among other things.
Other attractions in Nairobi
A special destination in the Kenyan capital is the Langata Giraffe Center. Here visitors can watch giraffes from a lookout tower and even feed them themselves. A tour of the Daphne Sheldrick’s Orphanage Center is very worthwhile. In this orphanage for elephants and rhinos, visitors can see how the animals are raised. In the many museums in the city, vacationers can gain a wide range of insights into different areas of Kenyan culture. The city’s most famous museum is the National Museum, where vacationers learn interesting facts about the history of the country. The railway museum is not only worth seeing for enthusiasts and collectors. Another attraction in Nairobi is the Karen Blixen Museum, in which interesting exhibits are on display about the Danish writer, based on whose novel the film Out of Africa was made.
